Jump City 8
The Jump City 8 performs the highly arranged, ultra-cool, west coast style of jazz created during the 1950's by former sidemen from the big bands of Les Brown, Stan Kenton, and others.
Featuring arrangements by Shorty Rogers, Marty Paich, Bill Holman and others, this music gave a laid-back, cool treatment to seldom-heard songs by major composers like Irving Berlin and Rogers and Hart and helped define the distinctive sound and style of west coast jazz.
The Jump City 8 is made up of members of Philly's hottest big band, the Jump City Jazz Orchestra. The group performs at concerts, jazz clubs, and various private functions.
